Crab Contest! (Deadline - May 12)

Update 3: The time for submitting your entries is coming to the end, but you still have a chance to participate! The official deadline is May 12, but late entries will be accepted until the jury starts voting, so you might have a day or two of additional time.
If your work is now in an advanced stage of creation, note me. If there are such cases I might think of giving additional days to submit. We're not in a hurry after all.

On a side note, I guess that choosing the winners will be hard. I'm thinking of making a separate prize for comics, because comparing a comic to a single picture is quite tricky. There might be some changes in the prizes due to the point donations I got.

And the prizes increased again! Now they amount to 2541 DA points, so many of the participants will receive PM time or at least some points! I'll have to decide how to divide them fairly.

And I feel weird after watching the finale. Is it possible to make Twi more powerful than that? Probably yes. Could she get a better town to reside? Yes! Why did they have to destroy the library? Who the hay needs changes? Scooby Doo has been fine for decades without changes (and they got rid of Scrappy Doo as soon as possible! )

Update 2: Do you rememeber we are still waiting for entries? So far we've got 20 entries (but I know for sure there are more of them coming (I saw WIP's)), and you still have time to finish your piece! (there might be one additional day to enter before I get all the jury members to vote ). 
However, there won't be sharing is caring prize, since only one person and one group shared the info about the contest... so additional 100 points have been added to the prize pool for "honorable mentions". 800 for the winner and 1721 for the other prizes. DA points might be exchanged into Premium Membership time - (396 pts - 1 month, 636 - 3 months)

And again, don't be worried about the quality of your art - there will be a prize for creativity, too!

Update: Total prize pool increased. Now it totals 1821 DA points (every point counts! besides, it'd be boring to have a round number). Additional points were added to "Additional prizes".
In case anyone wants to donate points to the pool, feel free to do so. In case someone wants to offer free pictures/vectors/anything like that (as long as it will be made by you, without using any bases, stock vectors etc.), note me.

So, I got some DA points, and since I got PM for a long, long time, I have no use for them. However, I know that people like points and Premium Memberships you can buy for points.

I decided to organize an MLP-related art contest about Tom the (giant) crab fighting ponies (or doing pretty much anything else you want)!
SzafaLesiaka is a co-organizer, and this contest is actually his idea.
PS: there is info at the bottom how to earn extra points for sharing this journal!

Rules:
Draw a picture/comic, or make an animation, or craft something (e.g. plushie, badge, jewelry, sculpture) that features my OC, Tom the Giant Crab as a main character.
he has a reference sheet (notice he is an uca crab, i.e. his claws are of very different size), and He appeared in some pictures you can find on DA!
Yes, you are allowed to re-design him to suit your style, adjust the colors to your style etc. Just keep his claw size difference, and the number of his legs right.
I prefer a scene when he fights ponies (e.g. Rarity), possibly getting his butt kicked, or getting killed. However, you can draw any theme. You might be original, or choose the easy way (i.e. Rarity fighting Tom). It has to be at least slightly MLP-related, though.
Yes, you can ship him.
Yes, you can use your OC in the picture in any way you want.
Cartoon violence and cartoon injuries are totally fine. Cartoon death is fine too.
As for suggestive stuff, be aware, I'm not a fan of such things. However, if you want to draw something like that... Better not...
You can use any medium to make your entry, but you are not allowed to use screenshots taken from the show or official comics, or stolen art, obviously.
The winners will be chosen by jury consisting of fan-artists, well-known DA commenters, me and my friends too. However, it will be announced later (I hope some of the potential judges will enter the contest!)
Sorry, no fan-fic entries. I, and the jury won't have time to read all the fanfics. However, feel free to write fanfics with Tom.
You don't have to be my watcher to enter the contest (you are encouraged to watch me, though )
How to enter: After you've drawn your entry, put a link to it in a comment under this journal, or simply write me a note. And put info about this contest (at least a link to this journal) in the picture description)

Prizes!
800 points for the winner (can be exchanged for an appropriate length of a "gifted Premium Membership" and points which are left after the transaction").
1721 points total for artists who will receive a honorable mention. The number of prizes will be influenced by the number of entries (the winner's prize might also be slightly changed in case of an enormous amount of high-quality entries, or in case of a low number of entries). A creativity prize will be awarded for an entry with a cool idea, no matter the quality of art.

If anyone wants to donate to make the prize pool bigger, feel free to do so. Also, if anyone wants to offer picture requests or commission discounts as additional prizes, send me a note
