Lyra Heartstrings was severely disappointed when she got her lyre cutie mark. It didn't break her spirit, though, and she decided to follow her true passion - playing sports with sticks and balls. After a short spell in a local cricket club, she moved on to playing baseball. She was picked in 12th round of Major Equestrian Baseball League Draft by Trottingham Fetlocks. At the beginning of her career she was playing for various teams in minor leagues, including some in the Griffon Kingdom. Finally, she got her chance as a reliever in the majors, but she rarely appeared in the rotation. After a season with decent ERA, she was released, and then she joined Ponyville Geldings, a poorly performing MEBL team, and played there as a setup pitcher or closer with a strong position in the rotation. She was praised for her performance, and stayed in the team for the next season. In the fourth game of the new season, she finally got her chance as a starter, after Rainbow Dash, Geldings' main starter, received a lifetime ban for abusing the officials after being ejected from a game for a beanball, which came together with injuries of other starters.
Lyra Heartstrings scored a no-hitter in her debut as a starter, and has been playing the major role in the Geldings roster ever since. She helped her team clinch a spot in the play-offs, where Geldings were one game short of beating Fetlocks. Heartstrings, however, finished the regular season with the lowest ERA of all the pitchers in the MEBL.
Well, a long time I drew Lyra holding a baseball bat. It was an awful picture (deleted it), but I liked the idea, so here it is. I was inspired to draw it after reading "Calico Joe" by J. Grisham (an awful book, full of Mary Sues, and the antagonist was too evil to be believable -.-), a story resolving in the MLB world.
On a side note - Pinkie Pie is a terrible outfielder.
